The heat's been back for a bit (thank you god) and the house got full power back on Christmas Eve. Who knew that half an electrical panel could be blown out? Kind of plus was the electrician that came right out when I came back to find the heat back on and almost nothing else. Minus is that he was a lying rat assed bastard. Bigger plus was I got pissed off, picked a name out of the phone book and found a guy who was a union electrician in Boston for a decade, moved up here to start a firm and redid my entire panel for - wait for it - $75! Stuck a temp fix in there till he could go home and pull the breaker that I needed from salvage then CAME BACK OUT AT 6AM on Christmas Eve morning on his way to a union breakfast before taking his stepson to the airport. In Boston. To see his father. Right after another storm. And he climbed over two feet of snow in my front yard on a hill because the dumpster completely blocks the garage.
So, people, if you have need ever of an electrician anywhere between Boston and Concord NH, ask me and I will give you his name and number.
So... aside from my dog freezing his no longer existing balls off for a few days before we decamped, my big regret is that I couldn't get to the fic commitment I made. But, I will send it to the person it was written for and that person can do with it as they wish.
