A few rants because as much as I talk to myself, I really need to lose the "bloody torchwood' part of it that makes people look at me even more strangely than they usually do. Especially as I time my walk to and from the market at the end of my street to an AngelMoon song on my ipod.

Stop me if I'm wrong, but when you post something to teh interwebz, isn't it the general idea idea that you're doing so because you want someone to actually read it? Because otherwise you could just scrawl it all down in that pretty pink diary with the fluffy poodle on the cover.

So do the rest of the internet (and oh, maybe yourselves) a favor and stop trying to show us how bloody clever and creative you are and lose the cutesy graphics and seriously odd color combinations and go for the user friendly thing. Because if you are writing something that you want me to read, it had best be pretty bloody special for me to go to the bother of select all or copy and paste. Think of yourself as trying to sell a product. because, if you're a writer, that's exactly what you're doing. Don't make people have to work to get to it. Spare me the "I write for myself" lines, if that were true you wouldn't be posting it publicly, now would you?

Oh, and while we're at it, unless you have a reason for it, pick a font and stick with it. I'm not talking about italics or whatever to offset sections of a story for a reason, I am talking about sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. Just like with blowjobs, sloppy in formatting is generally not a good thing.

Someone somewhere else mentioned this and I had to laugh. Yes, just what is it with holding fics hostage - review if you want me to post more? Do you really want people to tell you what they think? Because right there it's bang a hard right away from the story and generally for very good reason.

Fics and the posting thereof.  Someone explain to me why posting a couple hundred words is considered a chapter. Personally, I would rather see something of substance once a week (or whatever). but that's probably just me.

Fics: If you are going to post an epic (I love epic fics, epic fics make me smile - yes, the caveat follows) and raise all sorts of convolutions to the point where I need to draw diagrams, make it worth my while. I love fics that make me work for it, but fics that are twisty are to the point where one can question why even bother do no one any good, least of all the author. If the point is lost in the telling, just exactly what is the point of telling a pointless story? Get a beta who will call you on your shit.
